Job Summary

Design and operate a production-grade data platform on Kubernetes, building infrastructure with Terraform and managing desired state through GitOps. You’ll deliver self-service capabilities for data and streaming workflows while enforcing governance via a metadata/catalog layer. Own runtime reliability through SLIs/SLOs, runbooks, incident response, and safe upgrades across clusters, brokers, and engines.

Key Responsibilities

•Build configurable cloud infrastructure using Terraform, treating infrastructure as code with versioning, testing, and Git-based desired state.
•Deploy and operate the Kubernetes data platform components, including lakehouse (Apache Iceberg/Polaris/Trino), streaming (Kafka), orchestration (Airflow), and managed databases on object storage.
•Operate data governance and metadata tooling for discoverability, lineage, classification, naming standards, access policies, and retention.
•Build data self-service interfaces for provisioning Kafka topics/credentials, Iceberg tables/catalogs, Airflow connections, namespaces, and query access with runbooks and guides.
•Own platform reliability at runtime by defining SLIs/SLOs, writing runbooks, leading incident response, and performing safe upgrades without data loss.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (master's if applicable).
•Several years building end-to-end production platform/data-platform capabilities with self-service solutions.
•Strong, hands-on Kubernetes operations for stateful distributed systems and issue resolution under pressure.
•Hands-on operating experience with at least one core data system (Kafka, Iceberg/Trino/Spark, or Airflow) as a platform service.
•Experience with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps delivery (Terraform/OpenTofu with FluxCD/Argo CD) and CI/CD release practices (e.g., GitLab).
