Support the development, optimization, and industrialization of high-performance rare earth permanent magnets, with a focus on NdFeB magnet systems. Work hands-on across magnetic design, process–structure–property relationships, and manufacturing scale-up. Conduct and validate materials characterization using SEM/EBSD/XRD/LECO, correlate results to microstructure, and assist manufacturing and R&D teams to reduce variability and meet project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

•Support magnetic design and performance optimization of rare earth permanent magnet systems, focused on NdFeB.
•Develop and optimize process–structure–property relationships across powder preparation, alignment, compaction, sintering, grain growth, and annealing.
•Evaluate alloy chemistry, microstructure, and phase behavior to improve magnetic performance and thermal stability.
•Assist scale-up from lab/pilot development to full-scale production and support manufacturing operations for variability, yield loss, or performance degradation.
•Use measurement techniques (SEM, EBSD, XRD, LECO, etc.) to characterize materials and correlate magnetic results with microstructural analysis.

Key Requirements

•BS, MS, or PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a strong focus on magnetics or magnetic materials.
•3+ years (or equivalent advanced degree experience) in permanent magnet development, magnetics engineering, or magnetic materials research.
•Strong understanding of permanent magnet theory and NdFeB and/or SmCo magnet systems and/or new magnetic materials.
•Hands-on experience with sintering and heat treatment processes.
•Strong analytical and experimental problem-solving skills.
