Job Summary

Secure and prepare cargo for shipment by measuring, marking, and cutting boards, then fastening braces, blocks, and other fixtures using hand and power tools. Build and repair crates and containers, apply seals and markings, and inspect railcars for readiness. Assist with tying down military vehicles and installing container intrusion detection devices, while handling hazardous materials processing requirements as needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Study specifications and measure, mark, and cut boards using patterns, templates, rulers, pencils, and hand/power saws.
•Fasten and install parts using tools such as hammers, nailing machines, and power staplers to support and brace cargo.
•Repair or fabricate crates and containers from wood and fiberboard (including pallets, dunnage, and restraints), inserting bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads.
•Pack, seal, band, and apply markings to crates and containers; prepare cargo for shipment and obtain GBL/CBL.
•Inspect railcars for serviceability, assist with tie-down of military vehicles/equipment and MILVANS, and install CIDD (Container Intrusion Detection Device) when required.

Salary: USD 22.84 hourly

Key Requirements

•High school graduate or GED preferred.
•Working knowledge of various power saws and basic woodworking principles.
•2 years woodworking experience and knowledge of packaging and preservation principles and techniques preferred.
•Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with excellent attention to detail; communicates effectively and works well in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
•Must be able to obtain a forklift license and complete required certifications (including WPM Custodian Certification) and handle HAZMAT processing as required.
