Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
  • •Execute hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150, and test example relay models.
  • •Use field forms and digital data tools to document site activities; prepare logs, sketches, and digital reports with accurate entries and documentation.
  • •Support project leadership on-site, participate in safety briefings, ensure health and safety protocol compliance, and escalate complex technical issues or unexpected conditions.
  • •Assist with equipment cleaning, inventory control, calibration, and may review less experienced technicians’ work for quality and accuracy.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical testing, including medium/high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
  • •Demonstrable expertise with transmission/generation/distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE).
  • •Experience with electrical field testing standards and procedures such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA applicable standards.
  • •Experience using technical software for testing and data review (e.g., ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset) and ability to read electrical drawings.
