Key Responsibilities

  • •Define and lead Micron’s silicon photonics optical interconnect technology direction as the internal SME, including grounded recommendations to program leadership.
  • •Independently evaluate and de-risk partner PIC designs using simulations, validation of performance claims, and sensitivity/tolerance analyses.
  • •Co-specify photonic test-chip features, test structures, and measurement interfaces with the electrical I/O team to evaluate photonic link performance.
  • •Develop optical link budgets and link architecture targets, including modulation format, wavelength strategy, and loss/power/BER targets for proof-of-concepts.
  • •Build photonic behavioral models and define optical test and measurement requirements for post-silicon bring-up, authoring technology assessments and specifications.

Key Requirements

  • •MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field
  • •10+ years of experience in silicon photonics, photonic integrated circuit design, or optical interconnect development
  • •At least one silicon photonics fabrication cycle (PIC tape-out or MPW shuttle run) in a primary design or integration role
  • •Proficiency with photonic simulation tools such as Lumerical, Synopsys OptoDesigner, or Photon Design
  • •Strong understanding of silicon photonics fundamentals and experience developing optical link budgets and evaluating photonic link performance
