Job Summary

Build and scale mission-critical Identity and Access Management systems that power user authentication, authorization, and identity across Reddit. As a senior engineer, you’ll steer and deliver high-leverage projects, evolve architecture for uptime and performance, and mentor technical contributors. Partner with product, security, client engineering, and backend teams to define the IAM roadmap and ship backend services for millions of daily users.

•Steer high-leverage IAM projects aligned with Reddit’s goals by selecting, scoping, and driving delivery.
•Build more performant, scalable, higher-quality backend architecture for authentication, authorization, and identity.
•Mentor and coach other technical contributors to amplify team impact.
•Collaborate cross-functionally across Reddit engineering teams to define and implement the IAM vision and roadmap.
•Ensure systems have high uptime and strong performance while continuously learning and improving.

Key Requirements

•5+ years designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems, including 2+ years in security-sensitive domains (IAM, Security, Privacy, or Anti-Abuse).
•Strong understanding of identity concepts, authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML), session management, and authorization models (ABAC, RBAC, ReBAC).
•Experience building or operating centralized authorization engines.
•Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, preferably Go.
•Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, and GCP.
