Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the control and data contract between a facility energy controller and third-party power plant controllers, defining objects, fields, units, update rates, and staleness behavior.
  • •Define sequences of operation for controller modes (normal operation, generation shortfall, source transitions, blackstart, emergency shed) including degradation behavior.
  • •Specify point maps, interlocks, and constraint classes vendors build against, and enforce them through factory and site acceptance.
  • •Translate between electrical constraints and software/data requirements for the software team, and back into terms a plant vendor and engineer of record can accept.
  • •Prove the interface in simulation before energization and carry constraint classes and mode transitions into automated commissioning.

Salary: USD 200,000 - 250,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Experience with data/machine protocols for integration (MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs) and the ability to choose the right protocol for the job.
  • •Proficiency writing and reading code to prototype an integration, test point maps against live devices, and review what the software team ships (Python or Go preferred).
  • •Ability to interpret one-line and panel schedules to predict protection/breaker/source behavior under fault conditions.
  • •Experience defining control system data contracts (objects, fields, units, update rates, staleness behavior) and holding both sides to them.
  • •Control systems fluency across electrical and software worlds, translating electrical control requirements into buildable software requirements and pushing back on unsafe software designs.
