Job Summary

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems on board dredging vessels, ensuring reliable operation of main propulsion engines, dredge pumps, gearboxes, and auxiliary machinery. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance under the planned maintenance system (PMS), inspect and service pipelines, valves, and hydraulic systems, and diagnose failures to minimize downtime. Support Chief Engineer during dry-dock work, manage lubrication and fuel/cooling systems, follow safety and environmental procedures, and keep accurate maintenance and repair records.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all mechanical systems onboard dredging vessels.
•Ensure smooth operation of main propulsion engines, dredge pumps, gearboxes, and auxiliary machinery.
•Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance as per the planned maintenance system (PMS).
•Inspect and service suction pipelines, drag heads, valves, and hydraulic systems.
•Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work system, and environmental compliance standards; coordinate with engine room crew and maintain maintenance/breakdown/repair records.

Key Requirements

•Certificate as Rating forming part of Engine Room Watch.
•STCW training certification and a medical fitness certificate.
•5-10 years experience onboard dredger.
•Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance under a planned maintenance system (PMS).
•Strong troubleshooting skills to restore mechanical equipment to operational condition with minimum downtime.
