Job Summary

Oversee the European sanctions compliance function within the Global Sanctions Team, ensuring adherence to UK, EU, US, and other applicable sanctions laws. Serve as the European subject matter expert, advising business and compliance partners on complex sanctions issues across onboarding and product activities. Coordinate European controls, support reviews and investigations, manage reporting and KPI/KRI-driven monitoring, and contribute to sanctions risk assessments and policy updates.

Key Responsibilities

•Identify, review, and interpret new or changed UK/EU sanctions regimes and related regulatory developments, assessing business and risk impacts and defining control changes.
•Act as the European sanctions subject matter expert, advising business and compliance units on complex sanctions issues, including client sanctions exposure and new products/regulations.
•Coordinate across Europe to perform relevant controls and help define and maintain global, enterprise-wide sanctions processes in partnership with colleagues globally.
•File regulatory reports (e.g., frozen assets reports) with UK, EU, and Dubai authorities as needed and support sanctions-related reviews and investigations.
•Own European sanctions management reporting by setting and calibrating KPIs and KRIs, and contribute to sanctions risk assessments and ongoing policy/procedure maintenance.

Key Requirements

•In-depth knowledge of UK and EU sanctions regulations, with preferably US sanctions knowledge.
•Ability to interpret and apply complex sanctions regulations across a complex operating environment, including client onboarding, execution, clearing/custody, and cashiering activities.
•Experience working as a sanctions subject matter expert in financial services, ideally with knowledge of securities and capital markets.
•Strong analytical skills to manipulate data, produce management information (MI), and write reports.
•Strong oral and written communication skills with proven stakeholder management experience internally and externally (counterparties and regulators).
