Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and evaluate NeuralGCM+ training and testing cases using historical observations and customized physics-based climate model outputs.
  • •Conceive and implement model improvements to increase generalizability to unseen climates and improve simulated coupling across atmosphere, ocean, land, and sea ice.
  • •Collaborate with the team to implement improvements suggested by evaluation cases and develop your own novel applications.
  • •Present results at major AI and climate modeling conferences and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
  • •Contribute to open-source development (including code review and design documents) and mentor interns as appropriate.

Key Requirements

  • •Substantial experience building and deploying a relevant ML application in a practical or academic research setting.
  • •Fluent in Python and collaborative coding practices.
  • •Ph.D. in computer or computational science, applied mathematics/statistics, atmospheric science, or a related geophysical science, with an accepted conference paper or peer-reviewed first-authored publication using ML.
  • •Demonstrated excellent communications skills.
  • •Experience with physically-based atmospheric, oceanic, or related model development and/or formal graduate-level ML coursework (bonus).
