Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and evolve Bazel and Yocto-based build and test workflows in a polyrepo environment.
  • •Design and maintain Starlark rules, macros, toolchains, and integrations for hermetic, reproducible builds.
  • •Improve CI performance and reliability across Buildkite pipelines, including queue/build time, cache hit rates, retry behavior, and flake isolation.
  • •Build systems that reduce unnecessary CI work via affected-target detection, dependency analysis, test selection, caching, batching, and scheduling.
  • •Operate and instrument build infrastructure (containers, Kubernetes-based runners, cloud resources, remote cache/execution) with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and analytics, including on-call rotation for critical systems.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of engineering experience building infrastructure and tooling for developers.
  • •Hands-on experience with Bazel (or similar build systems) and understanding hermetic builds, dependency graphs, caching, sandboxing, and remote execution.
  • •Built CI systems at scale, with impact on build time, queue time, test flakiness, and engineering velocity.
  • •Comfort owning production systems with strong SLA requirements.
  • •Ability to debug distributed CI/build failures across source control, dependency management, containers, runners, remote caches, and test frameworks.
