Key Responsibilities

  • •Conduct foundational cleanliness research and benchmarking by validating materials, coatings, and surface structuring techniques to improve cleanability.
  • •Define cleanliness specifications and design rules for components, assemblies, and system-level modules (including particle and residual gas limits).
  • •Advise on geometry/accessibility constraints, review designs for particle traps/outgassing/contamination risks, and specify materials and manufacturing processes compatible with cleaning methods.
  • •Develop and support verification methodologies, including test procedures for clean-state verification during NPI and engineering builds.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally as the R&D counterpart to Cleanliness & Contamination Control in Operations, ensuring early identification and mitigation of cleanliness risks with engineers and suppliers.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • •Experience in high-tech, semiconductor, vacuum, or precision instrumentation industries.
  • •Hands-on understanding of contamination mechanisms, particulate control, outgassing behavior, or clean manufacturing environments.
  • •Background with material compatibility, surface treatments, or precision manufacturing methods.
  • •Knowledge of vacuum technology, UHV materials, residual gas analysis (RGA), or electron-optical systems (preferred).
