Key Responsibilities

  • •Code E/M for Spine & Nerve visits based on documentation and payer guidelines (time/MDM-based selection).
  • •Code EMG/NCS procedures accurately based on documentation, including nerve/muscle counts and laterality.
  • •Code spine injection procedures based on approach and documentation (e.g., epidural injections, facet blocks) and capture supporting details like level(s) and imaging guidance.
  • •Validate documentation supports medical necessity and appropriate diagnosis linkage; ensure correct bundling/unbundling and modifier use.
  • •Support clean claim submission to improve first-pass yield and reduce denials.

Key Requirements

  • •Hands-on experience coding Spine & Nerve / Pain Management / Neurology / Ortho / PM&R cases in an RCM environment.
  • •Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, modifiers, and medical necessity documentation.
  • •Attention to detail and ability to interpret clinical documentation; willing to ask clarifying questions.
  • •Experience coding EMG/NCS procedures and spine injections with correct utilization of modifiers.
  • •Ability to code from provider documentation and ensure alignment with payer guidelines to support first-pass yield.
