Location: Austin, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle
Workplace: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Construction, Civil & Site Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the structural analysis of the machine, including impeller/rotor stress, casing/pressure containment, and load paths through the packaged unit.
  • •Design pressure-containing structures and take them from first calculation through to fabricated hardware.
  • •Run rotordynamic and modal work with the turbomachinery engineer, covering critical speeds, whirl, and magnetic bearing interfaces.
  • •Design the containment case so an energetic failure at speed remains inside the machine.
  • •Design test cell structures and fixturing that carry the article, drive, and loop under load.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 210,000 - 260,000 annually
Equity and Bonus:Equity

Key Requirements

  • •Take a pressure-containing design from calculation through to a fabricated article that held in service.
  • •Run FEA on rotating hardware and correlate results against strain gauge, spin-pit, or test data rather than trusting only models.
  • •Own containment or burst case design and justify that it holds to stakeholders whose safety depends on it.
  • •Work modal and critical-speed problems jointly with whoever designed the aerodynamics early enough to change both designs.
  • •Be involved from sign-off through first loading on structures that got built; bonus experience includes flight/propulsion, rotordynamics, high-cycle fatigue/fracture, pressure vessel and containment design, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
