Key Responsibilities

  • •Set technical strategy for the Online Storage team over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
  • •Design and build components of a scalable datastore platform, enabling multi-region, horizontally scalable, high-performance database solutions.
  • •Develop control planes to automate schema/data migrations, disaster recovery, sharding, and performance tuning across hundreds of databases.
  • •Own team operations and availability by establishing monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting for on-call readiness.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally across the product development lifecycle and act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions, standards, and leading via feedback and guidance.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • •Extensive track record building highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
  • •5+ years of hands-on database expertise with relational or distributed SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, TiDB/Vitess), including performance optimization and data integrity.
  • •Deep understanding of database fundamentals including schema design, query optimization, scaling, partitioning, sharding, and performance tuning.
