Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist with quality assurance testing and inspect grading, granular, concrete, asphalt, electrical, and other construction activities required by the MTO Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
  • •Monitor the contractor’s work for compliance with plans, standards, and specifications prior to approving work and progress payments.
  • •Identify and document construction and/or QC deficiencies based on applicable contract and standard specifications.
  • •Resolve routine technical and administrative issues day-to-day, referring issues to Senior Inspectors and/or the Contract Administrator as needed.
  • •Maintain inspector’s diaries documenting contractor work, contract progress, and inspection milestones.

Key Requirements

  • •Completion of a post-secondary college diploma and/or university degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • •A valid driver’s license is required for travel to project sites.
  • •Assisting with quality assurance testing and inspection of grading and materials (including granular, concrete, asphalt, and electrical) per the MTO Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
  • •Ability to address requirements of the MTO Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
  • •Preferred: previous experience as a Junior Inspector and/or Field Office Administrator supporting MTO projects.
