Job Summary

Lead field operations for protection and control work on high-voltage substations, providing expert guidance and hands-on execution. Perform transmission-level protective relay testing and commissioning using relay test sets (e.g., Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150), validate advanced test sequences, and document results with digital tools. Coordinate with engineers, scientists, and subcontractors, mentor technicians, ensure safety/quality compliance, and serve as a primary client liaison.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead field operations by providing technical guidance, hands-on execution, and oversight of day-to-day site activities.
•Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations, including protective relay testing and validation of test sequences.
•Coordinate with engineers, scientists, and subcontractors to deliver field tasks efficiently and in compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
•Mentor junior and mid-level technicians, assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure consistency across work streams.
•Maintain safety, quality control, and accurate documentation; act as a primary liaison with clients and support incident response and corrective actions.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum of 11 years of experience in the electrical testing industry for electrical testing in substations and power systems.
•Expertise in protective relays and protective schemes (including SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and field testing knowledge.
•Advanced relay calibration/testing skills using test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including testing and upload of settings to microprocessor relays.
•Knowledge of electrical field testing standards and practices (e.g., NETA, IEEE, NFPA) with strong commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
