Job Summary

Consultant role focusing on fire protection and life-safety design for building projects in the public and private sectors. Lead interpretation of codes (ICC, NFPA, IBC, NFPA 101), review architectural drawings, and design life-safety systems (sprinklers, alarms, smoke management, egress). Mentoring junior staff, preparing reports, and supporting business development within a growing Fire & Life Safety discipline.

Key Responsibilities

•Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements (ICC/NFPA; IBC/NFPA 101).
•Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
•Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
•Produce fire safety strategy documents to inform building form throughout the design process.
•Design fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection/alarm, smoke management, egress).
•Carry out and review fire engineering calculations including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis.

Salary: USD 90,800 - 125,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline
•3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior fire and life safety design experience
•Experience in fire protection engineering design applications
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•P.E. License is preferred
