Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage asset management, including processing deliveries, replenishing consumables, and coordinating shipping/receiving of materials.
  • •Maintain and troubleshoot tools, test sets, and network/equipment; remove and replace defective modules and track spares to ensure repairs.
  • •Assist with installation, change, decommission, and testing of transport and next generation network layers (DS0 through OC192, Ethernet, SONET, IP; edge compute/wavelength/fiber optic transport).
  • •Locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities using industry standard software/hardware tools; support installation/testing of network and customer premise equipment (CPE).
  • •Perform preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure (including HVAC and high-voltage/DC power systems), and participate in restoration/on-call dispatch for service interruptions.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma/GED or up to 2 years of relevant technician experience, including 1+ years of network monitoring or maintenance/repair.
  • •Entry-level technician knowledge/experience in at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, mass fusion splicing).
  • •Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
  • •Maintain site security and cleanliness; ability to work in all weather and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • •PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office; ability to quickly learn corporate databases; valid driver’s license and rotational 24x7 on-call readiness.
