Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform line construction and line maintenance/betterment/operating work, including erection of poles and towers and assembly/attachment of line hardware and equipment.
  • •Work on energized and de-energized equipment within established practices and stringent safety procedures.
  • •Operate reclosers and sectionalizing devices, including replacing fuses with a hot stick, and operate pole top switches as required.
  • •Record, execute, and report work orders issued by dispatch/supervisors for routine and emergency work.
  • •Assist in training and evaluation of apprentice linemen and perform work of a groundman as required.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of work experience, including apprenticeship.
  • •High School Diploma/GED with electrical theory equivalent to approximately one credit month.
  • •Physically able to lift and handle up to 90 pounds and climb wood poles approximately 90’ or higher (or steel towers to approximately 300’ or higher) using lineman’s climbers/climb equipment.
  • •Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • •Must possess or obtain prior to transfer date a Group “A” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement (or classified endorsement temporary instruction permit) and receive a recommended on the Lineman Hands-On Skills Demonstration.
