Job Summary

Conduct routine and focused audits of medical coding to ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality across CMS, payer, and organizational standards. Review medical records, claims, and provider documentation to validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment, identify errors and trends, and produce actionable audit reports. Educate and provide feedback to coders and providers, support internal/external audit readiness, and stay current on AAPC/AHIMA, CMS, OIG, and HCC model updates while upholding HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct routine and focused audits of medical coding for compliance with CMS, payer, and organizational standards.
•Review medical records, claims data, and provider documentation to validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment.
•Identify coding errors, trends, and improvement opportunities; prepare detailed audit reports with actionable findings.
•Develop and deliver education and feedback to coders and providers to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
•Support internal and external audit preparation and response, including documentation requests and validation reviews; maintain audit logs, productivity reports, and accuracy metrics.

Key Requirements

•Active AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (CCS-P, CCS) certification.
•Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience, with 1–2 years in coding audit, QA, or compliance.
•Strong understanding of HCC/risk adjustment coding, clinical documentation improvement, and coding validation.
•Excellent command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease progression, and pharmacology.
•Deep familiarity with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier assignment; ability to work independently in a remote setting.
