Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage projects related to archival processing and collection digitization.
  • •Appraise, select, arrange, and describe both traditional and digital collections in accordance with service policies; procedures and targets; and current professional standards.
  • •Provide leadership and oversight to fellow archivists and paraprofessionals during the ingest of digital assets with accompanying metadata to agreed standards.
  • •Contribute to outreach activities and projects to promote and publicize the archive and our collection and develop new audiences.
  • •Undertake research to prepare talks, presentations, and display material to promote the archive and our collections. Perform research into collections on behalf of internal users and to support outreach.
  • •Supervise data quality, completeness, and integrity, that may have implications for discoverability and authenticity. Investigate and lead team in relevant actions to identify and remedy issues.
  • •Process complex collections, to international standards using the research data, archival collection, and asset management systems to ensure interoperability between systems and standards.
  • •Oversee information governance compliance on all AARC data systems and regularly audit and report to the line manager on key standards.
  • •Carry out a systematic review of all assets held by the Records Management Unit scheduled for destruction; Evaluate and transfer appropriate assets to the AARC.
  • •Create instruments of control and discovery such as inventories, catalogues, and other finding aids as well as digital surrogates, as appropriate, of archival assets to enter into the appropriate AARC systems using agreed-upon standards.
  • •Review all processes, procedures, policies, guidelines, General Instructions (GI), etc. that inform the current records management and archiving services, and update these in line with and in support of the AARC service.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Archives & Records Management from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • •10+ years’ experience working in an archive or library setting.
  • •Familiarity with archiving, records management, digitization processes, metadata schema and descriptive standards is essential.
  • •Experience with Preservica and Axiell technologies.
  • •Fluency in Arabic is preferred.
  • •Academy of Certified Archivist (ACA) certification.
  • •Demonstrated historical research.
  • •Familiarity with the chemicals and energy industry.
