Job Summary

Lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy in the Roads team, guiding feasibility through to detailed design and construction for projects in the UK. You’ll manage multi-disciplinary inputs, develop client relationships, act as technical lead/reviewer, oversee budgets and tender packages, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy services through all project life cycle stages from feasibility to construction.
•Manage projects to coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs, maintain budgets, and ensure timely delivery.
•Act as project technical lead and reviewer, guiding design drawings, specifications, and bill of quantities, and supporting tender packages.
•Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation, and in-house QA processes; uphold CDM responsibilities.
•Coordinate team resources and stakeholder engagement, placing the right people in the right roles and developing client relationships.

Key Requirements

•Chartered Civil Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience.
•Knowledge and experience of highway design and/or drainage systems across project life cycles, including road geometry, roundabouts, junctions, and active travel.
•Experience in leading one or more design disciplines on relevant projects (road, public transport, active travel, development).
•Experience with contract documents or administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts.
•Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage and/or PDS.
