Provide strategic technical leadership and governance for data centre civil engineering projects across EMEA, from site due diligence and masterplanning through detailed design and construction support. Lead, review, and approve infrastructure designs and specifications covering earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, and utility works. Collaborate with multidisciplinary UK and global teams, support client engagement and thought leadership, and mentor civil engineers to strengthen delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide strategic civil engineering leadership and technical governance for data centre projects, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
•Lead, review, and approve civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications, developing buildable solutions for site development and civil works.
•Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers and specialists to deliver the data centre project portfolio across the UK and globally.
•Act as a technical ambassador for AECOM, providing expert civil engineering guidance across EMEA and supporting the company’s position in hyperscale and co-location markets.
•Support client engagement, business development, strategic asset planning, and sector thought leadership while mentoring and developing civil engineers.

Key Requirements

•Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
•Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at chartered level with demonstrated leadership and professional authority.
•Extensive experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects, ideally in data centres, mission-critical, or large-scale developments.
•Strong knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes.
•Proven track record operating as Design Lead / Principal Technical Authority within multidisciplinary teams; experience with BIM modelling and collaborative platforms.
