Job Summary

Support WSP’s Development Team in Liverpool with transport/civil engineering development planning across residential and mixed-use projects. You’ll deliver transport planning inputs for site selection through planning approvals—producing Transport Statements, Assessments, Travel Plans, Parking and Access Studies, and leading planning applications through post-permission condition discharge. Work with multidisciplinary teams and clients across the north of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, mentoring others and helping ensure projects meet technical, budget, programme, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide day-to-day delivery of concept studies/strategies and transport planning work (Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Parking Studies, Access Studies, Movement and Access Studies), including leading planning applications and post-permission condition discharge.
•Manage and lead collaborative working relationships with clients, colleagues, and staff to support high service provision and client satisfaction.
•Maintain effective client relationships and raise WSP’s profile through networking and attending conferences while staying current on relevant standards and policies.
•Support high-profile client engagement, stakeholder management, design team liaison, and project management activities.
•Ensure projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements; guide and support technical staff as appropriate.

Key Requirements

•A numerate first degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related subject.
•Significant experience delivering transport planning projects across development planning, scheme delivery, sustainable transport and active travel, including junction design (priority, roundabout, signals) and relevant standards.
•A working knowledge of junction modelling software, e.g., Junctions 9 (PICADY & ARCADY) and Linsig, with experience to mentor others and interpret results.
•Experience acting as a lead client contact and building strong client and co-professional relationships.
•Postgraduate experience and nearing Chartership (or equivalent commercial experience and responsibility).
