Job Summary

Build Alpaca’s algo trading platform, designing and architecting a high-performance system for users who expect low-latency, reliable brokerage execution. In a small team, write substantial production code and make key design decisions across frontend and backend components, databases, and distributed systems. Bring strong knowledge of concurrency, scalability, high availability, and experience with trading/exchange systems including OMS and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and architect Alpaca’s algo trading platform to deliver high-quality, high-performance brokerage experiences.
•Write and ship substantial code as an experienced engineer in a small, fast-moving team.
•Make critical design decisions spanning frontend and backend, databases, and distributed systems.
•Design for low latency, high throughput, robust concurrency, and high availability.
•Develop and deliver Order Management (OMS) and Risk Management (RMS) capabilities for trading workflows.

•Strong, experienced software engineer with lead experience preferred.

•Expertise in low latency and high throughput optimization with messaging queues and message brokers.
•Experience developing and implementing Order Management (OMS) and Risk Management (RMS) systems.
