Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and architect Alpaca’s algo trading platform to deliver high-quality, high-performance brokerage experiences.
  • •Write and ship substantial code as an experienced engineer in a small, fast-moving team.
  • •Make critical design decisions spanning frontend and backend, databases, and distributed systems.
  • •Design for low latency, high throughput, robust concurrency, and high availability.
  • •Develop and deliver Order Management (OMS) and Risk Management (RMS) capabilities for trading workflows.

Key Requirements

  • •Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems (OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, quant trading).
  • •Strong, experienced software engineer with lead experience preferred.
  • •Coding skills in low and high level languages including C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.
  • •Expertise in low latency and high throughput optimization with messaging queues and message brokers.
  • •Experience developing and implementing Order Management (OMS) and Risk Management (RMS) systems.
