Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and build the control plane for the curated data lifecycle, including dependency-aware orchestration, backfills, restatements, retries, partial failure handling, and recovery.
  • •Decide, dataset by dataset, whether the solution is a model, service, or job, and own the architecture through production.
  • •Design contracts between ingestion and curation so datasets can be reasoned about end to end.
  • •Build alerting and data quality signals to catch real problems while minimizing noise so on-call is incident-focused.
  • •Break down large problems into work other engineers can own and sequence delivery to ship useful improvements early.

Key Requirements

  • •You are a backend engineer with deep experience in data systems or a data engineer who became a strong software engineer, shipping production services.
  • •You’ve built or materially extended orchestration/scheduling systems and can explain failure modes at scale.
  • •You’ve handled schema evolution and data correctness for systems with real downstream consumers where breaking changes are costly.
  • •You have operated stateful stream processing in production (e.g., Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark Structured Streaming, RisingWave, Materialize, Feldera).
  • •You have strong SQL and data modeling skills on large datasets, with solid distributed systems fundamentals.
