Job Summary

Lead and line-manage a team of ~15 people within the MoD IS Project Management, Delivery and PMO group, partnering with the Head of Project Management to drive delivery for the MoD IS Programme. Oversee project managers, governance (gate reviews), change boards, and reporting against SLAs/KPIs using a SAFe Agile framework. Manage risks, issues, suppliers, commercial/finance coordination, and ensure delivery aligned to schedule and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

•Line manage project managers and the day-to-day activities/outputs of direct reports to ensure high performance and alignment to agreed requirements.
•Manage issues, problems, and changes in live services, including contingency planning and escalation when needed.
•Support the Head of Project Management with programme-level troubleshooting and delegated authority support.
•Provide governance approvals for project gate reviews and chair change boards and RIO boards to drive reforecasting and resolution.
•Partner with commercial, finance, third-party suppliers, and the customer to meet SLAs/KPIs, support invoicing/payment, and facilitate programme delivery and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

•Leadership experience delivering complex projects and/or leading teams.
•At least one year of experience in a leadership role (e.g., team leader, temporary manager, or formal manager experience) or completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
•People management experience overseeing a team delivering large, complex IT programmes/projects across the full project lifecycle.
•Working knowledge of SAFe Agile methodologies.
•Competency in using MS Office tools and willingness to learn new applications/capabilities.
