Job Summary

Own mechanical design and validation for next-generation data center switch modules or chassis, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturable, schedule-driven solutions. Use Creo 3D CAD to produce drawings and 3D models, support thermal simulation inputs (including heat sink and airflow work), and coordinate BOM/release changes with PLM tools. Perform lab prototype checks, debug issues, and support PCB design handoffs and DFM concerns, with some travel in North America and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and validate the next data center hardware module or chassis, addressing structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, documentation, and product family constraints.
•Implement selected designs in Creo 3D CAD, creating drawings, critical function-dimension details, and 3D files for prototyping and manufacturing.
•Manage peer and cross-functional design reviews and structure BOMs; release and change products using PLM tools (Agile).
•Support thermal simulation workflows with 3D models, heat sink design, and airflow/thermal testing; incorporate results into design updates.
•Provide ECAD-related PCB drawings/3D files to electrical/PCB teams, coordinate DFM concerns with CMs, and troubleshoot prototypes in the lab while communicating findings to manufacturers.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
•Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment for data centers is preferred.
•Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
•Experience designing plastic parts for cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.
•Experience with PTC Creo; familiarity with Creo Simulate (Mechanica) and thermal simulation/airflow testing is a plus.
