Key Responsibilities

  • •Process your assigned stream of the German payroll cycle in-house each period to ensure accurate, compliant, and on-time payroll.
  • •Maintain payroll master data (new hires, terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, garnishments) and flag anything unclear.
  • •Run pre- and post-payroll validations each cycle and check payroll journals and GL mappings for data integrity.
  • •Handle statutory filings and access workflows (e.g., Lohnsteueranmeldung, SV-Meldungen, Jahresmeldung, U1/U2 claims, ELStAM retrieval/maintenance) and support required government accesses.
  • •Prepare statutory/ad-hoc reporting, support audits with structured documentation, and handle assigned client payroll tickets with escalation as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •1–3 years running native (in-house) payroll processes for Germany and independently handling a defined volume of payslips per month.
  • •Hands-on DATEV processing experience.
  • •Completed Kaufmännische Ausbildung (e.g. Steuerfachangestellte/r) and/or a Lohnbuchhalter qualification.
  • •Working knowledge of German wage tax, social insurance, and labor law, with willingness to build deeper expertise.
  • •German at C1/C2 for interaction with local authorities and fluent English to collaborate with the global team.
