Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide full-time, on-site oversight of rail, civil, structural, utility, roadway, and drainage construction activities.
  • •Serve as NICTD’s authorized on-site representative and enforce contract plans, specifications, standards, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • •Coordinate daily activities and lead progress meetings, including agendas, minutes, and action item tracking; maintain comprehensive project records and reporting.
  • •Review and monitor contractor schedules; manage cost/change processes including pay estimates, RFIs, field changes, claims, and change orders; track costs and contingencies.
  • •Manage inspection staff and quality assurance activities, oversee testing and documentation, and lead punch list, substantial completion, final inspections, and closeout.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of progressive construction management, construction engineering, or construction inspection experience.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • •Experience serving as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or similar leadership role on major transportation infrastructure projects.
  • •Experience overseeing railroad, transit, roadway, bridge, or heavy civil construction projects and managing construction contract administration (pay estimates, RFIs, change orders, claims, scheduling, and documentation).
  • •Strong construction sequencing, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
