Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead industrial and mechanical design of next-generation Stripe Terminal payment devices from concept through mass production, shaping form, feel, usability, and structural performance.
  • •Develop design concepts via sketching and physical/3D-printed prototypes; define Terminal hardware design language including proportion, surface transitions, and button feel.
  • •Create photorealistic renders (e.g., KeyShot) and define/manage CMF specifications, partnering with suppliers to qualify surfaces, textures, coatings, and packaging deliverables.
  • •Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks/Creo; assess manufacturability; resolve technical problems using tolerance analysis and simulation (CAE/FEM) and physical prototyping.
  • •Manage mechanical deliverables (BOMs, specifications, reports), support validation and compliance/certification activities (including PCI), and qualify components in first-article builds with suppliers.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design (or closely related).
  • •8+ years of hands-on product design experience across mechanical engineering and industrial design, including consumer-grade plastic enclosures from concept to mass production.
  • •Ability to communicate concepts via hand/digital sketching and define CMF specifications with suppliers.
  • •Strong manufacturing knowledge with experience taking designs through DFM, tooling, and production.
  • •Proficiency in Creo (SolidWorks preferred), including 2D drawings with GD&T/tolerance analysis, and familiarity with mold design, FAI, and process capability (Cpk).
