Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the operational technology network for the battery storage fleet, ensuring packs, inverters, medium-voltage collection, and the plant controller communicate deterministically, redundantly, and securely.
  • •Design site network architecture, including topology, redundancy, switch selection/configuration, VLAN/subnet design, and fleet-wide IP addressing.
  • •Own the fiber and copper physical plant work, including fiber runs, splice plans, patch panel layout, labeling, OTDR testing, and pathway coordination.
  • •Integrate and map industrial protocols across controllers and systems using Modbus TCP, DNP3, and IEC 61850 (including GOOSE).
  • •Implement precision time distribution (PTP per IEEE 1588 and IRIG-B) and OT cybersecurity (IEC 62443 segmentation, firewall rules, remote access, patch/firmware management, and NERC CIP evidence) while supporting commissioning validation and troubleshooting.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field, or 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • •3+ years of industrial, utility, or operational technology network engineering.
  • •Hands-on configuration of managed industrial switches and routers.
  • •Hands-on experience with at least one industrial protocol stack: Modbus TCP, DNP3, or IEC 61850.
  • •Hands-on fiber optic termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
