Job Summary

Operate, monitor, and perform routine maintenance for equipment within a Central Utilities plant, ensuring safe and environmentally responsible facility operation. Maintain chilled water and hot water systems, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, HVAC, and backup generators. Record and analyze operational data to improve efficiency and reliability, respond to abnormal/emergency situations, complete housekeeping, and document predictive, preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities. Shift work and on-call support are required.

Key Responsibilities

•Safely operate and monitor plant equipment to meet day-to-day customer facility demands.
•Perform routine and emergency maintenance across facility equipment, including predictive, preventative, corrective, and emergency work.
•Record and analyze operational data to maximize equipment efficiency and reliability; document maintenance activities using a computer-based maintenance management program.
•Identify unsafe acts/conditions, mitigate hazards when possible, and follow safety/environmental rules and procedures (including LOTO, confined space, fall protection, electrical/chemical and fire safety).
•Respond to abnormal and emergency operating situations; provide on-call support; perform shift work and housekeeping/clean-up duties.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 44.9 hourly

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED, plus a City of Detroit 1st Class Refrigeration Operator license and at least a 3rd Class Steam license.
•Four years of plant operations experience (including experience operating a centralized chilled water system) is preferred.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, management, and the general public is preferred.
•Knowledge of basic water chemistry is desired.
•Knowledge of power plant mechanical/electrical equipment and associated maintenance functions is preferred.
