Job Summary

Lead the Events Analytics Platform (EAP) team that powers how Sentry stores, queries, and analyzes event data (errors, transactions, spans, profiles, replays, metrics) and supports AI-driven capabilities. Drive technical and architectural evolution for a large-scale, distributed data platform, ensuring stability and incident readiness. Grow engineers through mentoring and performance management while partnering closely with Product Engineering, Streaming, Production Engineering, Security, and Compliance.

•Grow and develop a team of engineers with strong ownership and impact.
•Set technical and strategic direction, balancing short-term stability with long-term architectural evolution.
•Drive core EAP feature development, including analytical query support, routing logic, storage/compute separation, and modern analytical storage patterns.
•Ensure EAP supports AI workloads for AI agents and MCP servers, and unifies event data for fast cross-event querying at scale.
•Lead through incidents and postmortems, and partner across Product Engineering, Streaming, Production Engineering, Security, and Compliance.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 220,000 - 300,000 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years of people management focused on career development and performance management.
•Strong technical background in data platforms, storage systems, or analytical backends (e.g., ClickHouse, Pinot, or Druid).
•Experience with distributed systems, query optimization, or scaling data-intensive workloads.
•Excellent communication skills to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
•Proficiency with Python or Rust (or similar); familiarity with observability, developer tools, or event-driven systems is a plus.
