Job Summary

Lead the delivery of an outstanding Science education aligned with the KHDA Outstanding framework and the British National Curriculum. Collaborate with the Head of Department as Second in Department to shape high expectations, inclusive practice, and ambitious student outcomes across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Support curriculum planning, analyse progress data to drive intervention, coach and mentor staff, ensure assessment quality, and help maintain safe, well-resourced laboratory environments while promoting engaging Science culture.

Key Responsibilities

•Support development, review, and implementation of a coherent Science curriculum aligned with the British National Curriculum and school vision.
•Model high-quality teaching and support the Head of Department in embedding effective pedagogical approaches across the Science team.
•Analyse student progress data and lead targeted interventions based on trends and underachievement.
•Support professional development through mentoring, coaching, and peer observation, and contribute to departmental CPD.
•Assist with quality assurance through book looks, learning walks, and lesson observations, and support assessment tracking and use of data to inform teaching.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Science (or a related discipline) plus a recognised teaching qualification.
•Proven classroom practitioner with a record of securing excellent student outcomes in Science.
•Experience using data to inform planning and intervention.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others.
•Experience in a leadership role or whole-school initiative is desirable.
