Key Responsibilities

  • •Refine and implement Planet Money’s video strategy by gathering and applying audience and performance data.
  • •Conceive, produce, shoot, edit, and publish video for NPR platforms and social media in collaboration with editors and producers.
  • •Lead experimentation with different forms of video journalism, assess results, and help decide which approaches to prioritize.
  • •Train and coach audio producers in video production, visual storytelling, video tools, and interpreting performance metrics.
  • •Develop and maintain short-form social video workflows and publish supporting social posts, captions, and copy while following NPR editorial and ethical guidelines.

Key Requirements

  • •At least four years of experience regularly making videos in a journalistic, explanatory, or comparable editorial setting, with samples.
  • •At least two years of experience managing or creating video for social and digital platforms, using audience and performance data to inform creative or editorial decisions.
  • •Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud video/photo/design programs including Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere.
  • •Advanced experience with video podcasting tools such as Riverside and Descript (or comparable platforms).
  • •Strong visual storytelling skills and editorial judgment across short-form and social video.
