Key Responsibilities

  • •Execute user research programs end-to-end: plan studies, recruit participants, run in-context sessions, synthesize findings, and deliver insights that inform product direction decisions.
  • •Conduct mixed-methods research combining qualitative research (interviews, diary studies, usability testing) with quantitative signals (survey design, significance testing, driver analysis).
  • •Benchmark Plaud’s hardware research methods against SOTA practice and identify methodology gaps to close proactively.
  • •Manage a prioritized research roadmap across Product, Growth, and Marketing, shifting from reactive fulfillment to proactive identification of high-stakes decision points.
  • •Translate research findings into clear, decision-ready outputs, track whether insights are acted on, and confirm impact on product or growth decisions.

Key Requirements

  • •Hands-on experience researching hardware products or human-hardware interaction (consumer electronics, wearables, IoT, or similar physical products) including in-context and ergonomic evaluation methods.
  • •Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of user research studies from design through delivery without needing direction on methodology selection or execution.
  • •Solid quantitative skills: survey design and statistical analysis (significance testing, regression, driver analysis).
  • •Proficiency with SPSS, Python, or R.
  • •Strong qualitative research skills including in-depth interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, and usability testing, and the ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative findings.
