Job Summary

Develop detailed mechanical 3D BIM models for HVAC, piping, ductwork, and mechanical system layouts in Transportation Buildings projects. Support mechanical designers and EITs with system design, equipment sizing, and installation details, including plumbing systems and natural gas piping. Contribute to departmental BIM standards and workflows, help advance design automation tools, coordinate with offshore design teams, and stay current with BIM technology and practices.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver high-quality 3D models for HVAC systems, hydronic heating/cooling piping, ductwork, and mechanical system layouts.
•Support mechanical designers and EITs with system design, equipment sizing, and detailed modelling for Transportation Buildings projects.
•Develop mechanical installation details and ensure drawing packages are prepared accurately for submission.
•Produce 3D models for plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary, and storm drainage) and model natural gas piping for building systems and site servicing.
•Contribute to BIM standards, workflows, and process improvements, assist with design automation tools, coordinate with offshore design teams, and stay current with BIM technology.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical BIM modelling within a consulting or engineering design environment.
•Advanced proficiency with Revit, BIM360, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM-enhancing tools such as Newforma Konekt, RF Tools, pyRevit, and interoperability add-ins.
•Experience supporting regional or national BIM standards and digital production workflows.
•Familiarity with design automation techniques; scripting in Dynamo or Python is an asset.
•Strong understanding of mechanical building system fundamentals, including duct sizing, pipe sizing, and mechanical code considerations.
