Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate a remote-controlled drill using installed technology.
  • •Provide feedback on drill performance so algorithms align with pit conditions and bit preferences.
  • •Decide which drill bits to use for each block and safely declare the drilling area before issuing drilling commands.
  • •Conduct risk assessments and monitor day-to-day drilling operations and standard operating procedures.
  • •Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections, record inspections to prescribed standards, and report deviations immediately to supervisors and dispatch.

Key Requirements

  • •Hold a Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical and relevant permits/certificates (including Red Permit and a Valid Dover Certificate).
  • •Have relevant equipment licenses (e.g., CAT MD6540, One Touch Drilling, Autonomous Remote Drilling).
  • •Possess 2-3 years of relevant drilling and/or mining operations experience.
  • •Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of operational equipment systems, including collision prevention and fire suppression systems.
  • •Be proficient with computer usage, fault finding/identification, reporting procedures, and pre-shift inspection protocols.
