Key Responsibilities

  • •Review Emergency Department medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and applicable modifiers.
  • •Assign facility E/M levels per client-specific emergency department leveling guidelines and facility charging methodologies, including ACEP tool knowledge.
  • •Analyze documentation from nursing, physicians, ancillary departments, and diagnostic services to ensure complete code assignment and charge capture.
  • •Apply official coding guidelines, CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements for reimbursement accuracy.
  • •Participate in coding quality reviews, audits, educational initiatives, and process improvement; communicate documentation deficiencies for coding clarification.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 2+ years of facility-fee outpatient coding experience in Emergency Department services, including injection and infusion experience.
  • •Active AAPC or AHIMA coding certification.
  • •Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • •Epic experience strongly preferred.
  • •Other facility-fee and physician-fee medical coding experience is a plus.
