Job Summary

Design and execute electrical studies across the ESSP (Electrical Studies, SCADA & Protection) team for power delivery projects in Salt Lake City. Work on protective relaying, power system planning, and design studies including insulation coordination, power quality, and transient simulation. Support SCADA networking, logic/control schemes, and produce technical reports while ensuring NERC compliance and safe, ethical engineering delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform services related to electrical studies, SCADA, and system protection, supporting broad activities or specializing based on project needs and expertise.
•Conduct protective relaying work including analysis, time-current coordination, protection criteria, relay settings, SCADA integration, NERC compliance, and arc flash analysis.
•Execute power system planning and steady-state/dynamic stability studies, including outage contingencies, generation interconnect feasibility, voltage stability margins, and batch simulation automation.
•Design studies such as substation grounding, electric/magnetic fields, insulation coordination, transient simulation, power quality (harmonics, voltage flicker, over/under voltage), and motor starting.
•Support networking/communications and logic/control systems (RTU, relays, meters, HMIs, PLCs; protocol design; control scheme development) and write technical reports summarizing findings and conclusions.

Key Requirements

•BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology), or BSCE (BS Computer Engineering) degree from an ABET-accredited university.
•3 to 5 years of industry experience performing design or device configuration in technical disciplines aligned to protective relaying/SCADA/system protection.
•Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and their application to permitting and project work-related issues.
•Analytical mindset with sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including professional communication to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
