Job Summary

Build production systems for capacity engineering, powering how Anthropic accounts for, measures, and maximizes fleet utilization across heterogeneous cloud and accelerator environments. Own data pipelines that ingest and normalize telemetry into BigQuery, deliver observability and performance instrumentation, and create attribution and forecasting that translates compute spend into defensible plans. Work with research, infrastructure, inference, and finance teams while operating Kubernetes-native systems at meaningful scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Build the planning and allocation stack for cross-region and cross-provider capacity placement, guardrails, queueing, and occupancy KPIs.
•Drive efficiency programs including stranding/rightsizing, unused capacity recovery, and job-level utilization for training, inference, and evaluation.
•Own attribution and forecasting by reconciling billing across 10+ providers with telemetry, attributing spend, and producing defensible compute plans.
•Build and own the data platform that ingests occupancy, utilization, and cost into BigQuery with completeness, latency SLOs, and gap detection.
•Operate Kubernetes-native systems at scale (collection agents, workload labeling, and scheduling behavior such as taint/reservation).

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 320,000 - 485,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Build and operate production systems in a hands-on engineering role with a DevOps flavor.
•Write production-quality Python and SQL, including BigQuery SQL with maintainable, well-tested code.
•Have deep experience operating at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure) and its operations.
•Use observability tooling such as Prometheus/PromQL and Grafana, including writing recording rules and monitoring relied on by engineering teams.
•Gather requirements independently and work effectively across organizational boundaries in an ambiguous environment with limited direction.
