Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the full internal and external communications mix for NIHR BRC: Birmingham, including social media, website, newsletters, print and events.
  • •Plan and deliver multi-channel media engagement campaigns, reporting performance against agreed targets.
  • •Conduct audience insight using trends, audience needs and analytics to shape communications planning and drive innovation.
  • •Create high-quality content across channels (e.g., press releases, publications, opinion pieces, infographics) and manage communications collaterals with agencies and suppliers.
  • •Represent communications on committees, deputise as required, and—where relevant—hold line management responsibility for staff; support press office enquiries and crisis communications.

Key Requirements

  • •Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in communications or a closely related field, or significant practical relevant experience in a similar role.
  • •Substantial experience in a Communications/Press/PR role working with the media within a large, complex organisation.
  • •Proven news judgement and the ability to assess the merits of stories and represent inputs fairly.
  • •Experience devising and delivering multi-channel strategic communications plans with a creative approach to identifying new opportunities.
  • •Demonstrable project management skills managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, including crisis communications experience.
