Key Responsibilities

  • •Set Firecrawl’s legal strategy and risk posture for web crawling/licensing, data provenance positions, and AI training and output questions.
  • •Own and defend Firecrawl’s position on web data access in diligence, negotiations, regulator interactions, and disputes; run demand letters and pre-litigation strategy.
  • •Run corporate and board legal, including financings, governance, cap table and equity plans, and act as corporate secretary.
  • •Set commercial legal posture for risk allocation, indemnity, data-provenance positions, and approval thresholds, advising founders on deal terms.
  • •Lead privacy, security, and compliance strategy (GDPR/CCPA/EU AI Act/state AI laws), steward open source posture, advise on employment matters, and build/hire the legal team.

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years of legal experience, including running legal in-house at a venture-backed technology company.
  • •Have effectively served as a GC (or deputy/senior lawyer founders relied on) and can make high-stakes calls.
  • •Strong breadth across corporate/governance and commercial/product/data/IP; deep in at least one with credible coverage of the rest.
  • •Experience defending positions in customer diligence, negotiations, regulators, and disputes; comfortable handling demand letters and pre-litigation strategy.
  • •Membership in good standing in at least one US state bar, with either California bar membership or eligibility to register as in-house counsel in California.
