Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide development management advice to protect the Strategic Road Network’s operation, safety, and performance.
  • •Review planning application documentation for development proposals affecting the SRN, ensuring quality, budget, client, and timeline requirements.
  • •Conduct technical reviews of transport assessments, including critical analysis of calculations, assumptions, and mitigation suitability, and convey outcomes in technical notes.
  • •Support project delivery: manage own workload and juniors’ workload, meet deadlines, and prepare/monitor budgets.
  • •Engage in planning consultations, build client and stakeholder relationships, and mentor junior staff using the technical team’s expertise.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Spatial/Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • •Membership of a professional body such as CIHT, TPS, or CILT.
  • •Awareness/knowledge of transport planning principles, policies, and regulations in the UK.
  • •Experience with transport modelling (local, and ideally strategic).
  • •Proficiency in commonly used transport planning tools/software, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
