Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist in designing rail electrical systems including lighting, small power, earthing and bonding, points heating, traction power, and LV/HV distribution networks.
  • •Support site surveys, condition assessments, and inspections to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • •Use industry-leading software and BIM tools to produce drawings, models, and design documentation.
  • •Collaborate with signalling, telecoms, and civils colleagues to ensure electrical designs integrate effectively into overall railway systems.
  • •Help plan electrical construction and commissioning phasing to minimise disruption, while promoting sustainability, efficiency, and maintainability over asset life.

Key Requirements

  • •BEng Electrical Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above.
  • •MEng Electrical Engineering would be an advantage.
  • •Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Rail/Electrical Engineering.
  • •Demonstrable interest in Rail/Electrical Engineering and developing a career in the industry, including willingness to work towards IET chartership.
  • •Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders in writing and verbally.
