Job Summary

Operate a variety of construction equipment to support asphalt paving and groundwork activities. Control material flow through paving machines, maintain efficient equipment performance, and perform minor servicing or report major issues. Cut and break pavement, install guardrails/curbing components, set up and tear down equipment, and support tasks like traffic control, joint and expansion work, and equipment inspections in a safety-focused team environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate paving and groundwork equipment (e.g., asphalt paver, screed, rollers, distributors, loaders) to control material flow and depths.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance; inspect and clean equipment or report malfunctions to supervisors.
•Carry out paving-related tasks such as cutting/breaking pavement, driving guardrail posts, and driving/operating curbing machines.
•Set up and tear down equipment and support site needs including truck dumping coordination, traffic control, and expansion joint/crack routing tasks.
•Fill tanks/hoppers, install dies/cutters/extensions onto screeds, and regulate screed temperatures and asphalt flow rates.

Key Requirements

•Operate equipment safely and efficiently in a construction environment under varying conditions.
•Minimum 1 year experience and/or training in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
•Preferred: 3 years of road construction experience.
•Maintain a current driver’s license that meets state requirements, including CDL Class A and/or B with possible hazmat and tanker endorsements.
•Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check, and comply with OSHA/MSHA safety requirements.
