Job Summary

The role is an on-call, Crew Chief-level Archaeologist for the BLM Southeast Region, based in Albuquerque, NM, with responsibilities spanning fieldwork, reporting, and regulatory compliance for transportation, energy projects, tribal or federal land activities.

Key Responsibilities

•Authors technical reports and cultural resource documents with clarity and minimal grammatical or spelling errors.
•Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering.
•Conduct data QAQC reviews.
•Help with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, site form preparation, and report production.
•Conduct pre-field Class I records reviews.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Resources Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s standards)
•3 to 5 years of experience working in the cultural resource management field, environmental planning, completing environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance for a variety of projects relating to transportation, energy development, zoning, and tribal or federal land activities
•Strong demonstrated ability with cultural resource management report writing
•Knowledge of public and private sector requirements and practices for cultural resources surveys
•Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular work hours if needed; ability to travel at short notice for 2-8 days at a time
