Key Responsibilities

  • •Plan, implement, and take full ownership of core backend features across Discovery’s backend services, owning the entire development cycle.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, TSE, and DevOps on design and architecture decisions.
  • •Build the audience-activation layer bridging audience data to downstream targeting systems (TV, streaming, and commercial viewership signals).
  • •Participate in refactoring and modernizing system components to improve performance and stability.
  • •Lead and mentor other developers on complex, cross-service projects.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of experience developing complex enterprise web applications and distributed systems in production.
  • •Deep understanding of Java programming, including Spring Boot/Spring.
  • •Experience designing and implementing web system architecture.
  • •Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySql, Elasticsearch, Redis, Vertica).
  • •BSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
