Refactor and modernize services for performance and stability while mentoring other developers.

Key Responsibilities

•Plan, implement, and take full ownership of core backend features across Discovery’s backend services, owning the entire development cycle.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, TSE, and DevOps on design and architecture decisions.
•Build the audience-activation layer bridging audience data to downstream targeting systems (TV, streaming, and commercial viewership signals).
•Participate in refactoring and modernizing system components to improve performance and stability.
•Lead and mentor other developers on complex, cross-service projects.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience developing complex enterprise web applications and distributed systems in production.
•Deep understanding of Java programming, including Spring Boot/Spring.
•Experience designing and implementing web system architecture.
•Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySql, Elasticsearch, Redis, Vertica).
•BSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
